Nite Nationals Regatta Rules and Information
Governing Rules
The Nite Nationals Regatta will be conducted in accordance with the Racing Rules of the National Iceboat Authority (NIA), as published on November 15, 2018. In addition, the By-Laws, Rules, and Constitution of the International Nite Class Association (INCA), as posted on the Association’s website, will also govern the event.
Entries and Registration
- All competitors must be current members of the INCA. Annual dues are $20.00 and must be paid online to complete event registration (Nite Racing Member Login).
- The Nite Nationals Registration fee must be paid no later than one hour prior to the start of Race #1.
- Each skipper is required to sign the INCA registration, waiver, and release form, which is available on the website during registration.
- While racing, all competitors must wear hard-surfaced, suitably padded headgear—a crash helmet is mandatory.
- With the exception of emergencies, as determined by the Race Committee, the same individual must sail the yacht throughout the regatta.
- Keeper trophies will be awarded to skippers placing 1st through 10th in each fleet.
Race Schedule
- The regatta is a two-day event.
- The first race will commence at 10:00 AM local time on the first day of the scheduled regatta.
- The National regatta may be conducted with split fleets, regardless of the number of boats entered. During registration, each competitor must indicate whether they will compete in the Gold or Silver fleet.
- After all boats have registered, a decision will be made regarding whether the fleets will race on the same course simultaneously (with separate scoring) or on separate courses. This information will be announced at the skippers/safety meeting prior to the first race.
- No more than eight races will take place over the two days, and no fleet will sail more than five races per day.
- No race will begin within 45 minutes of sunset on any day of the regatta. On the final day, no race may be started after 1:00 PM.
- If a three-day regatta is required, no race will start after 2:00 PM on the final day.
- The skippers meeting will be scheduled prior to the first race of the regatta.
Postponements
The Nationals regatta will be postponed if the International Skeeter Association is scheduled for the same dates.
